Who its for
Each year, 12–15 interns commit a full year to serve at Ravencrest in maintenance, kitchen, hospitality, and student life. They work hard in the day-to-day and also walk closely with students/guests, encouraging them spiritually and, when needed, offering words of challenge. Their presence is paramount to Ravencrest's culture.
Because our interns invest so much time, energy, and opportunity, our heart has been to provide thoughtful, and welcoming housing that include the essentials, and creates a sense of belonging. Our goal is not luxury. Our goal is home. We want interns to have what they need for rest, recovery, and hospitality during their 12 months with us.
The Project
In 2012, Ravencrest cut ribbon on the Ridgehaus, which serves as our dining room for all meals, includes a coffee shop, bathrooms, a classroom for the FORGE program, and a full commercial kitchen on the upper level. The lower level has been a vital hub for storage, hospitality operations, and program gear, even including long-term storage for staff when needed. When the Ridge House was originally designed in 2006, the lower level included plans for a substantial multi apartment build-out intended for staff housing. Those plans were never realized, and that space has remained un optimized due to resource constraints. Fortunately much of the foundational infrastructure was included in the initial build. We now hope to finish what was started by occupying that space in accordance with its initial design!
What We're Building
Two apartments designed primarily with our interns in mind. The vision is each gender grouping will have
○ A full kitchen
○ Updated, durable amenities
○ A comfortable common living space for rest and community
This would be a major upgrade for our interns and a direct investment in the people who invest so much in our students and guests.
Current Status
We are working with our architect to update plans so they meet current code and will resubmit for permits given the time elapsed since the original approvals.

Our hope is to receive a code exemption that would allow us to proceed without a sprinkler system in the apartments. This could save $100,000+. The Fire Chief agreed to advocate on our behalf, given the strong alarm system and well-designed egress in the Lower Ridge House.
•Internally, we are intentionally reevaluating the space and layout to ensure it serves interns best, provides maximum versatility, and futureproofs the space, all while aligning with the heart of the project.
• This is our top active project. We are walking forward intentionally in prayer with this, trusting God for his wisdom as we steward His resources. We believe we can push this long-planned build-out across the finish line without any major roadblocks in sight.
